The Right Guidance for Australian Industry

Manufacturing, agriculture, mining and energy businesses face pressures most industries never see: high labour and input costs, heavy regulation, long production cycles and customers who expect tight delivery times. Staying profitable is a balancing act, and it takes advice from people who understand how a production business really runs.

Costing, Inventory and Margin

We help you understand what each job, product line and customer really costs. With job costing, inventory valuation and margin reporting set up properly, you can track orders, builds and shipments, price with confidence and spot unprofitable work early.

Imports, Exports and Currency

If you import components or export finished goods, movements in the Australian dollar can change your margins overnight. We help you plan for currency risk, get the GST treatment of imports and exports right, and set up supply arrangements that make sense.

A Business Partner, Not Just a Tax Return

We work alongside you all year, not just at tax time. From cash flow forecasting and equipment purchase decisions to reviewing R&D Tax Incentive eligibility and succession planning, we help you grow the business and your personal wealth alongside it.

Manufacturing accounting FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my manufacturing business claim the R&D Tax Incentive?

If you carry out eligible research and development, your company may be able to claim the R&D Tax Incentive. Smaller companies with turnover under $20 million can receive a refundable tax offset. Activities must be registered with the government within 10 months of the end of your income year, so we review eligibility early.

How should we value our stock for tax?

Each item of trading stock can be valued at cost, market selling value or replacement value at year end, and you can choose a different method for each item. Choosing well can reduce the tax you pay, so we review your stock valuation before 30 June.

Do we pay GST on imported goods?

GST is generally payable on goods you import, and registered businesses can usually claim it back as a credit. Eligible importers can also defer the GST to their BAS to help cash flow. We make sure imports, duty and GST are recorded correctly.

Can you help us understand our real product margins?

Yes. We set up job and product costing so materials, labour and overheads are allocated properly, and report margin by product, customer and job so you can price with confidence.

Do you work with ERP and inventory systems?

We work with Xero, MYOB, Odoo and NetSuite, and can help you choose and set up a system that tracks orders, stock and production alongside your accounts.
