Why professional firms choose us

Finance Specialists for Professional Services

When your product is your time and expertise, keeping on top of the finances is often the first thing to slip. We work with consultants, agencies, engineers, IT contractors, allied health practices and other professional firms across Sydney to keep their accounting, tax and reporting under control.

Track What Is Really Profitable

Whether you bill hourly, charge fixed monthly fees or work on contingency, we help you measure profit by client, project and team member. Clear reporting on utilisation, work in progress and debtor days shows where you make money and where you do not.

Cash Flow That Keeps Up With Growth

Professional firms often grow faster than their cash. We help you tighten debtor collections, put money aside for tax and GST, and build forecasts so you can hire, invest and take on bigger work with confidence.

The Right Advisors in Your Corner

Directors face constant demands, from managing risk and cutting costs to retaining skilled people and deciding when to bring in new partners. We advise on business structures, personal services income rules, profit distribution and succession, so the firm works for both the business and its owners.

Professional services FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the personal services income rules?

If most of your income comes from your own skills or efforts, the personal services income (PSI) rules may apply. Unless you qualify as a personal services business, that income can be treated as yours personally and some deductions are limited. We check how the rules apply before you set up or change your structure.

Should my consultancy be a company, trust or sole trader?

It depends on your income, risk, plans to grow and how you want to share profits. We compare the options for your situation, including tax, asset protection and cost to run, before you decide.

When do I need to register for GST?

You must register for GST once your GST turnover reaches $75,000 a year. Many firms register earlier so they can claim GST credits on start-up costs.

Do I need to pay super for contractors?

If you pay a contractor mainly for their labour, you may have to pay super for them as if they were an employee. We review your contractor arrangements so you meet your obligations.

How do you help firms improve profitability?

We report profit by client, project and team member, track utilisation and work in progress, and help you review pricing so you are paid properly for your time.
